Abstract

Introduction: The literature points out that mental health has addictive consumption as a risk factor and/or the absence of mental health can lead to addictive disorder. However, sport is a protective factor against the development of addictive behaviour and deterioration of mental health. Objective: To analyse trends and patterns in the scientific literature on education, mental health, healthy living, sport and substance use in adolescents through a bibliometric analysis. Method: A quantitative-bibliometric review methodology is used by exploring the Core Collection of the Web of Science and obtaining a sample of 240 academic-scientific articles during the period 2014 and 2024, collected during June 2024. The variables taken as variables are the titles, abstracts, keywords plus and authors keywords, and use the filters Highly Cited Papers and Hot Papers. The analysis is performed using the Biblioshiny interface of RStudio v.4.4.1 and VOSviewer. Results: Shows how the articles published has increased considerably in 2017, being its growth is linear. Most of the citation grew exponentially in 2014, which is related to an increased interest in the subject. The most used terms are related to alcohol use disorders, risk factors that may influence in mental health and healthy living, as well as a broader front related to adolescent and adult populations. Conclusion: Search patterns have been established that have allowed us to highlight the lines of research with the greatest tendency. Thanks to them, the most relevant risk factors associated with mental health and the use of addictive substances have been found.
